Connecting Generations at Work

As New Zealand's population ages, people are staying longer in the workforce. Many employers are now managing up to four generations at once. The challenge is to successfully combine a wide range of experiences, attitudes and expectations into productive and successful generation-friendly workplaces.

This one day workshop is for team leaders, HR and learning & development professionals who are looking to find better ways of working across generations.

The workshop will cover:

  • Talking 'Bout My Generation: defining the generations
  • On Common Ground: six principles for mixing generations
  • Manners Maketh the Man (and Woman): language, manners and the generations
  • The Balancing Act: how much fun should work be?
  • Speaking the Right Language: intergenerational communication
  • Say What You Mean to Say: giving and receiving feedback
  • Would You Like Fries with That?: generational perspectives on customer service

Participants will:

  • Increase their knowledge and understanding of the four generations
  • Understand how generational differences affect us at work
  • Develop practical communication strategies
  • Extend their ability to manage diverse working styles
